Virus with the name “Backdoor Agent MOF” is attacking computers that are on around 10 embassies and consulates, and at least two servers that receive data from the office is located in China, said  Yomiuri Shimbun .

Account the virus is capable of transmitting user identification (“user id”) and other information to outside parties by skipping the authorized user, AFP reported.

The virus opens a route in a computer system that was attacked that allow access to hackers to steal data.

Yomiuri reported that the computer is being attacked embassies and consulates in the country of France, the Netherlands, Myanmar, the United States, Canada, China, and South Korea.

The Japanese government itself admits that their computer is infected with a virus but added that no confidential information is stolen.

On Friday, government spokesman Osamu Fujira said that no sensitive information being stolen, but he refused to comment on some details of the Yomiuri report.

“I do not want to comment about what type of virus that attacks and where they came from,” said Fujimura told reporters.

While other newspapers, the Asahi Shimbun reported that some low-level computers in Japan’s parliament is also exposed to the virus from Chinese servers. The virus that causes a variety of confidential information becomes accessible.

Disclosure is started after a virus to steal confidential information such as nuclear power and military aircraft from a computer company in the field of defense contractor, Mitsubishi Heavy.

China has been accused of being the party responsible for the attacks the virus, but they deny the allegations.
